The Ecole FLAM Jersey is a not for profit organisation which was established in Jersey in February 2011. It is part of a network of over 50 FLAM schools established in the UK.
The school enables French and binational children aged 4 to 16 years to practice the French language and to keep in contact with French culture.
The FLAM programme (Français LAngue Maternelle) is designed to enable those children whose parents are resident in Jersey and who are being educated in local English-speaking schools, to practise French as an extra-curricular activity. Classes for younger children (4 to 5 years old) focus mainly on spoken French, while classes for the older children allow them to practice both spoken and written French and to read in French.
The school currently has just over 50 pupils split into 10 classes. Each class is an hour a week (or 45 minutes for the 4 to 5 year olds). Classes take place on Saturday mornings at Alliance Française located at 5, Library Place in St Helier.
Ecole FLAM Jersey has an exclusive partnership with the Alliance Française and it is their qualified teachers who teach the children.
The school has a library with over 2,000 references (books, DVDs, magazines). Items can be borrowed directly at the library or can be reserved online:
